Etymology[]

The name Waylenite, mean "Devout of the Teaching of Waylen", in Common. Waylenite is made up of two words, Waylen and -iantite, Waylen is believed to be name that originated in Gilneas, meaning "Land by the Road" and is a popular name through out the Eastern Kingdoms, -iantite comes from the Old Common word Wyantwytae, meaning "Devout Follower", among some circles of scholars -iantite is believed to have come from the Old Common word Grwyant'Iaian'twaytwyte" meaning "Devout Follower of a Teacher". The latter however holds little weight in most Etymology Societies and Academics.

History[]

The core beliefs of the Church were first written down 2000 years prior to the Opening of the Black Portal, when a wandering Alteraci Holy Man by the name of Waylen the Great and Unassailable, carved the Three Orders of the Waylenite Church into the Great Stone at Tower Cliff. He later travelled from village to village, city to city, preaching about the importance of the Three Orders of the Waylenite Faith. The Church only received a cult like following.

During the end of the subjugation of Alterac, at the end of the Second War, many Alteraci, specifically those from Northeastern Alterac, began to flock to the guiding light of the Church.

Beliefs[]

The Waylenite Church of the Holy Light, maintains the core beliefs of the Church of the Holy Light, the Three Virtues, however focus is more centralised on the Three Orders: Agrarianism, Humility, Humanitarianism.
