His/Her Eminence, the Lord Vicar of the Church (formerly Vicar-General) is one of three Cardinal positions on the Council of Bishops that represent the Curia. As Chief Vicar of the Council, they are responsible for exercising the bishop's ordinary executive power over the entire church. The position may not simultaneously be held either by the the Lord Chancellor of the Church or the Lord Chamberlain of the Church.
Alongside the Lord Chancellor and the Lord Chamberlain, the Lord Vicar serves as one of the three highest-ranking and most integral members of the Council.
The current Lord Vicar is Bishop Melchiz Tzedeck. Tzedeck is the longest served of the three Cardinals currently making up the Curia.
