This is going to be a little guide on linking through Wikia to avoid the dreaded blue arrow tag that pops up on links that originate from outside of this Wikia. And, a few helpful tips for linking in general.

The Basics[]

To start of, if you want to link something in an Infobox, or in source more, it's really simple. Say I wanted to link to the Alterac page on this wiki. It's as simple as doing Alterac. That produces, Alterac, the clickable link.

In visual editor, to link to an article, write out the articles namespace, highlight it, and use the command Ctrl+K, which will hyperlink the selected text.

What if it's not on the Wiki?[]

Pages we don't have? There's plenty of those, trust me. I've seen some people do this, for example..

"The Wiki didn't have a page about the Cenarion Expedition, so I needed to type out Cenarion Expedition."

This does work! As a matter of fact, it produces Cenarion Expedition, which links to the respective WoWwiki page. But it also has that pesky little blue arrow to dictate that is an external link.

Interwiki Linking[]

Enter Interwiki Links (as a matter of fact, I just used an interwiki link to link that page, from an external wikia.

Interwiki linking is a simple tool used to link between articles on Wikia, and Wikipedia. It is the shorthanded version of the prior example, that ALSO doesn't produce a pesky blue arrow.

The formatting for interwiki links is simple:
Text to Display for Wikia linked websites.
Text to Display for Wikipedia pages.

So now if I wanted to link to the external Cenarion Expedition page, I simply type:
Cenarion Expedition

That makes Cenarion Expedition this!

What if it's a section on a specific page?[]

Another thing often practiced is linking sections in long form, similar to external website linking. This one is really much simpler than that however. If I want to link to a specific section on this wikia, it's as easy as typing:

Text to Display

So for example, linking to the Silver Hand section of The Citrine Eagle page is as easy as typing..

The Citrine Eagle's Silver Hand

That makes this!

The Citrine Eagle's Silver Hand

What if I want to link the specific section of a Wiki article FROM a different website?[]

Now you're just being difficult.

w:c:WikiName:PageName#SectionName

Anyways, I hope this helps someone out there, and if not, so be it!
