Summonable Lanterns are popular magic items made and used by magi. They come in many different forms and are not hard to make, making them a convenient replacement to spells that must be maintained to produce light. The lanterns can be kept at home and when the spell is cast, they can be summoned to the caster's location and follow the caster around by floating. The only magic the caster uses is during the initial summoning. The floating and production of light are all done by the lantern. Depending on the craftmenship and cost of the latern, they can last anywhere from a few hours, to several weeks. The lanterns do not produce any heat and can be unsummoned with a simple command word. Summonable Lanterns are also being used by those who do not practice arcane magic through the use of summoning scrolls.
