Mobsters are a specific type of criminal who is part of a mob; a large gang of people, especially one that is disorderly and intent on causing trouble of violence. They are typically organized and treat their criminal activities as a career. Unlike members of syndicates, cartels, and consortiums, the average mobster typically forgoes stealth in favor of hostility.
Criminal Activities
The lifeblood of a mobster is how much reputation their name holds and the weight of their coinpurse.
Racketeering
The most effective and common crime committed by a mobster is the act of racketeering. A racket is a scheme whereby a mob forces businesses, guilds, and other organizations to pay gold. Normally protection is offered in return for the payment. Those that take this route use the credible threat of violence to deter swindlers, ruffians, and even guards. However, a more violent or uncaring mobster may choose to simply extort their marks by attacking them until the offer of gold.
Drug Running
There is a blackmarket dedicated to the manufacture and distribution of substances deemed illegal by the Alliance and Horde. The prohibition of these materials is an opportunity rarely passed by any criminal. Mobsters in particular distinguish themselves as middle men in the distribution of the business, but sometimes are known to take matters into their own hand if the opportunity presents itself.
Muggings
The most simple form of making gold for a mobster is to bully others for it. It is not uncommon for one to simply wander up to a stranger and either threaten them or outright assault them! Victims are normally beaten profusely, some even murdered, so that their attacker can steal their coinpurse.
Hitmen
Contract killing is an art older than mankind. Assassins are normally very stealthy and kill their target in an efficient, quick manner. Mobsters however are usually brutal when hired to kill another. They are far more likely to get caught, but their lethality is all the same. While some do take freelance jobs, more often than not are they doing it in the name of their respective gang.
