Archbishop Landren I was a Lordaeron born Archbishop of the Church of the Holy Light. Though the exact date of his birth has been lost, it is known that the man began his service to the Church at a young age and was made into a bishop of a small territory of Lordaeron very early on. He eventually rose to the position of Archbishop following the death of his predecessor and began a massive movement of expanding the Church's power in the kingdoms of man. Known to be great friends of the Gilnean king, Tristan Greymane II, Landren established a strong hold in Gilneas as well as in Lordaeron, Stromgarde, Alterac, and Kul Tiras.

Following the elevation of Tristan's son, Mortimer Greymane I, Landren was outraged by the sudden massive decrease of Church power in Gilneas. After several failed attempts to gather contact with the king, Landren (naively), ordered the death of Mortimer in private, so as to groom a more willing subject in the form of one of Mortimer's sisters. The assassination failed and led to the furthering of a schism of power within Gilneas in terms of the Church. Seeing his actions as a failure and leading to a severe amount of controversy, Landren retired from the public eye for several years before returning with a great amount of charitable acts to cushion his lambastment from the king of Gilneas.

In 375 F.A. of the Aderician Calendar, the Archbishop began to visit and speak with Mortimer and established a friendship with the alienated monarch. The two were often seen in public with one another during his visits to Gilneas, and the Archbishop was even remarked as calling their past disputes "foolish" and praising the king's kindness.

During a period known infamously as Mortimer's Madness, the Archbishop was brutally slaughtered by his "friend" in a public gathering to declare the return of the friendship between the Crown of Gilneas and the Holy Church. His body was then displayed outside of Mortimer's estate, crucified and guarded, as a mockery of the archbishop. It was not until the reign of Mortimer's daughter, Aerin Greymane I, a year later that the Archbishop's body was removed from the crucifixion and interred into a crypt by the church.

Landren's reign was considered a boon to the church's power in most of his years, and many claim his death to have been extremely shocking and gruesome. His death was noted for nearly sparking a holy war in the north against Gilneas, though the actions of Mortimer's successor were able to abate such things.
