Brief History[]
Our story begins with a man known as Loriam Darkwald, a human of the Darkwald family who aligned his family to the Arathi Tribe. He, as well as his family, followed Thoradin and Ignaeus the Trollbane with the ambition to unite the Humans beneath the banner of Arathor. Thoradin would name the region the Arathi Highlands as the center of the developing Empire. Eventually, Arathor, as well as the mighty city of Strom, would be founded.
At the time of Arathor's formation, the humans would align themselves with the elves, clashing against the fierce Amani Empire. Loriam Darkwald and his family would proudly stand against the trolls and would successfully crumble the Amani Empire alongside their newly found allies beneath the Arathorian banner. Loriam would suffer many injuries while taking on the savage trolls. However, soon after recovering from war, Loriam would be presented with a title of Nobility, a title bestowed upon him by Arathorian Royalty in appreciation for his service, loyalty, and his successful military conquests against the Amani Empire. Loriam’s Noble status would also lead to the social and economic elevation of his entire family.
Oakheart & Oakheart Keep[]
Oakheart Keep is home to any and all who carry the Darkwald name. The Keep lies within Oakheart, the Eastern mountainous region of the Arathi Highlands ruled over by the Noble Darkwald Family. The keep began construction one year after the establishment of the House’s Nobility, and ended twenty years later due to Lord Loriam Darkwald's architectural requests. Unfortunately, however, Loriam Darkwald would die ten years before the keep was finished.
The Grand Oakheart Battalion[]

Because of their sufficient power and wealth, the Darkwald Noble Family has in its possession, its own infantry. Due to the infantry's main base of operation being within the Oakheart region of the Arathi Mountains, the official name given to the infantry was the Oakheart Battalion. This name was given to the infantry by Edmund Darkwald, the House's Lord at the time of it's formation which came shortly after the construction of Oakheart Keep. House Darkwald was formerly aligned with the Arathorian Empire and provided military service to the King by contributing the Oakheart Battalion in times of need. Now, with the Arathorian Empire having collapsed after lasting about 1,600 years, House Darkwald has pledged allegiance with the Grand Alliance.
