–Motto of the Greyhallow Demi-Brigade

The Greyhallow Demi-Brigade (Skanoric: Gråhelyga Här), also known as the Greyhallow Brigade, was a division of the Elwynn Brigade of the Stormwind Army raised from the province of Greyhallow.

Created following the Rostkammyr Rebellion of 415 K.C, the Greyhallow Demi-Brigade served the Kingdom of Stormwind until the Legion War of 626 K.C, when following the creation of the new Principality of Rostkamm, which saw the unit dissolved to form the Rostkammyr Army.

The Greyhallow Demi-Brigade Reform of 626 K.C[]

Following the cycling out of Draenor for half of the Demi-Brigade in early 626 K.C, the commanders of the Demi-Brigade with the support of Stormwind High Command and the Greyhallow Council of Nobles, began to draw up plans to completely overhaul the Demi-Brigade's Order of Battle.

After over a month of drafting and contemplation, the redesign of the Demi-Brigade, now known as the Greyhallow Demi-Brigade Reform of 626 K.C, was voted in by the Greyhallow Council of Nobles and approved by the officers of Stormwind High Command. This reform was then revised a few months later due to the return of the rest of the Demi-Brigade from Tanaan and the recent census of Greyhallow and was further improved upon, mostly by the implementation of Regiments of Dragoons and Artillery Regiments, along with the restructuring of company sizes. Further revision was implemented after the Battle of the Broken Shore and involved more company and regimental restructuring, along with the reduction of footmen and increase of riflemen. Finally, by the beginning of the year 627 K.C, the Demi-Brigade's Cavalry, Dragoon and Artillery Regiments were also restructured.

Information on the restructuring of the Demi-Brigade can be found at Organisation.

The Burning Invasion[]

Disbandment[]

Following the ratification Third Treaty of Westyrstadt, the Greyhallow Brigade, along with the Greyhallow Fleet, was disbanded when the Stormwindian province of the Greyhallow Peninsula was dissolved on the 2nd of February, 627 K.C.

Patterns, Marks and Variants[]

All Rostkammyr weapons are divided into a series of Patterns, Marks and Variants. Generally, Pattern refers to a type of weapon, such as the Land Pattern or Sun Pattern; Mark refers to a specific style of weapon, while Variant refers to variations of a single mark. For example, a Mark VII-B is still a Mark VII, but has been modified from a previous mark, while a Mark VII-A was produced as said mark.

Melee Weapons[]

Forged in the numerous smithies around the peninsula, the melee weapons used by the Greyhallow Demi-Brigade each follow a standardised design and pattern, all of which were created following the standardisation of the army after the Second War. The majority of these weapons are forged from steel, although many of the older ancestral weapons born by officers are forged from Dark Iron.

Pattern 605 Dirk[]

Empty Image

No image available

A foot-long dagger used as the melee sidearm by all members of the Greyhallow Demi-Brigade, the Pattern 605 Dirk consists of a double-edged and flame-bladed blade and a simple hooked cross-guard. The Dirk is designed to be used both in one's primary hand as their main weapon or in their off hand as a parrying weapon.

Pattern 605 Infantry Degen[]

Empty Image

No image available

A two foot-long shortsword used as the standard melee weapon for the infantry, the Pattern 605 Infantry Degen is, like the Dirk, a double-edged and flame-bladed blade. The Degen's hilt consists of a simple curved cross-guard, designed to protect the front of the wielder's hand.

Pattern 605 Infantry Flambard[]

Empty Image

No image available

Used by the elite infantrymen of the Demi-Brigade, the Pattern 605 Infantry Flambard is a four foot-long greatsword designed for breaking through enemy formations. Much like a scaled up version of the Degen, the Flambard's blade is straight and flame-bladed, though it is used less for stabbing and more for large, sweeping attacks.

Pattern 605 Cavalry Flamberge[]

Empty Image

No image available

Used as the primary weapon of the cavalry, the Cavalry Flamberge is a three foot-long straight sword designed to be used to attack armoured enemy horsemen. When held out straight by a charging horsemen, the Flamberge is able to piece enemy armour relatively easy, while allowing the wielder to stay out of the range of return strikes.

Pattern 605 Infantry Spear[]

The standard weapon of conscripted Heavy Infantrymen, the Infantry Pike is a 9 foot long spear used to defend against cavalry charges.

Pattern 615 Cavalry Lance[]

Carried by the elite cavalrymen of the Demi-Brigade the Cavalry Lance is an eight foot long spear designed to break up formations via charging. Additionally, unlike the heavier variants wielded by most knights, the Lance is easily able to be wielded when un-couched, making it useful for attacking scattered enemy infantry.

Pattern 615 Bardiche[]

Used by the professional Halberdiers, the Bardiches of Greyhallow were long-handled, heavy axes, used due to their ability to easily kill large enemies such as tauren, ogres and felguards.

Pistols[]

Pistols in the Demi-Brigade were mostly carried as sidearms, although they were also used as a primary ranged weapon by some specialised troops.

Landpistol[]

Landpistol

The standard pistol weapon of Greyhallow, the Landpistol or Land Pattern Pistol is designed to serve as a ranged sidearm to most soldiers.

Landorm[]

Landorm

A heavier variant of the Landpistol, the Landorm or Land Pattern Serpenta fires full sized ammunition instead of the smaller rounds used by normal pistols.

This means that the Landorm was generally issued to cavalrymen, officers and other troops who used a pistol as their primary weapon.

Landflamkastjär[]

Flamkastjär

A Landflamkastjär (Art by Games Workshop)

Effectively a miniaturised Hand Mortar, the Flamkastjär or Land Pattern Flame Caster is designed as a flare gun for marking out targets. It can also fire regular grenades, but will require bracing due to the recoil.

Landstrompistol[]

Strompistol

A combination of shotgun and pistol, the Landstrompistol or Land Pattern Stormpistol was used by the Demi-Brigade's light infantry, as a replacement for a full-sized shotgun.

Solpistol[]

Solpistol

Designed as a magical variant of the standard Landpistol, the Sol Pistol of Sun Pattern Pistol is differentiated from the standard pattern by the fact that, when fired, it converts its ammunition into a bolt of holy fire, resulting in it also being known as a Solfyre weapon.

The Solpistol was generally used by the mages.

Solorm[]

The heavier variant of the Solpistol, the Solorm or Sun Pattern Serpenta was used by mages attached to light and cavalry units.

Long Arms[]

The Greyhallow Demi-Brigade employed a number of ranged hand cannons and long arms; suiting its preference for short ranged firefights.

Landkarbyn[]

Landkarbyn

The most advanced of the Solfyre weapons, Solfysil or Sun Pattern Fusil was used by mages attached to elite ranged units.

Artillery[]

Providing heavy support for the army, the artillery weapons of Greyhallow were, like their Ranged Weapons, made by Rostung. These weapons consist primarily of medium ranged, shell firing Licornes for infantry support, backed up by long ranged, solid shot firing Cannons. Additionally, the Varlandic Army makes use of more recent artillery technologies in the form of the Stormcannon and the Stormmusket, a quick-firing versions of a cannon or musket with a rotating magazine; and the Dragon Gun, a flame-throwing device.

Varlandic artillery pieces are given a designation consisting of their type, along with their bore width in linjes[1] and their shot weight in tionmarks[2]. Thus a Licorne 47/240 is a Licorne that has a bore width of 4.7 inches and fires 12 pound shells.

Licorne[]

Varland Licorne

The standard artillery piece of the Greyhallow units, the Licorne is a combination of cannon and howitzer that is designed to fire explosive shells at enemy targets.

Howitzer[]

Varland Howitzer

A Howitzer (Art by Games Workshop)

A squat, fat bodied licorne, the Howitzer is designed to shell enemies from a distance, arcing it's shots into the air before allowing them to strike down at opposing formations.

Cannon[]

Varland cannon

A Cannon (Art by Games Workshop)

Rarer than the Licorne or Howitzer, the Cannon's main role in the Greyhallow forces was to engage and destroy heavy targets such as Steam Tanks and Flesh Giants. To suit this role, cannons are typically longer barrelled than other artillery pieces, while they are also rifled for more accuracy.

Stormmusket[]

Varland Stormmusket Old

An pair of older variants of Stormmusket, with multiple barrels (Art by Games Workshop)

A relatively recent development, the Stormmusket, also known as a Rotor Musket, is an artillery piece designed to fire a continuous stream of rounds at a target.

The Stormmuskets of the Greyhallow toke multiple forms, with newer variants that bear only one barrel being used alongside older multi-barrelled weapons.

Stormcannon[]

Effectively a Stormmusket that has been scaled up to the size of a light cannon, the Stormcannon is typically mounted on vehicles and is able to fire a stream of explosive shells at enemy forces.

Dragon Gun[]

Varland Dragon Gun

A pair of Dragon Guns (Art by Games Workshop)

Another unique weapon, the Dragon Gun is designed to spray fire and other burning liquids at targets. This weapon is rare and usually mounted on vehicles.

Rocket Launcher[]

Empty Image

No image available

More of a secondary weapon for vehicles, the Rocket Launcher consists of multiple racks of rockets, fixed to the carapace of a Forgeguard or the top of a Steam Tank. Rocket Launchers are able to fire all their rockets in a single massive volley, but lack the ability to be reloaded in combat.

Armour[]

Vehicles[]

Used to provide mobile heavy fire support and transportation, the vehicles employed by the Greyhallow Demi-Brigade consisted mostly of Steam Transports, although a number of Steam Trucks were also in service.
