The Devouring Void is an extremely powerful and extremely dangerous spell related to the use of Void magic. The Devouring Void works to consume all of its surroundings, and if the Void is not contained, it can rapidly grow out of hand, and result in catastrophic damage.

After it was first used during the Battle for Wartorn Valley, the spell was deemed a forbidden spell by its own creator.

History[]

Devised by Urthudar, the spell was simulated multiple times and was only used once, in one of the many battles of Wartorn Valley. When Urthudar actually cast Devouring Void, it cost a great amount of mana, nearly exhausting him. However, in order to prevent the Void from completely destroying both the Horde and Alliance, Urthudar had to contain the spell himself. He worked to focus the Void on destroying only the Alliance, but it proved too difficult to focus the destruction. Eventually, Urthudar was forced to close the Void himself, after it consumed a great number of Horde and Alliance forces.

Doing so took everything Urthudar had. All of his energy went into closing the Devouring Void, and eventually it collapsed. Urthudar expended all that he had, causing him to fall unconscious for three weeks. However, unbeknownst to him, the closing of the Void resulted in the spawning of numerous Voidwalkers and even a Voidlord. Though the malevolent creatures were destroyed by the opposing Nethergarde Company, the results were described to Urthudar upon his waking.

After he was forced away by the Horde for his actions, Urthudar decided that until he had reworked the spell into a more controllable state, it should never be used again, unless as a last resort in which absolutely no other option exist.

Trivia[]

  • The Devouring Void is the sole major cause of casualties for the Nethergarde Company, causing a total of 72 deaths.
  • The Devouring Void could be seen as similar to the Endless Hunger, an ancient and forbidden spell.
  • As a note, this is considered an ultimately forbidden magic, one that should never be used by even the oh-so-evil Urthudar, by his own standards. In the chance that anyone does happen to learn of this spell (contact Allose if you really want to discuss that), I'd highly recommend against using this, mainly for IC reasons.
