The Chief Warrant Officer of the Navy (CWON) is a rank granted to a Chief Warrant Officer who has received a certain standard of conduct and/or ability for leadership within the senior command. The CWON is in charge of all sailor affairs within the Navy. This includes everything from training, to operational command.

While technically a rank, it acts more as a post and is generally regarded as such.

While the CWON isn't a Flag Officer rank, it is on par to a Rear Admiral in command and ceremonial stances.

The position of CWON is currently empty, with the Admiralty working towards electing a new candidate for the position.

Role[]

The incumbent CWON is appointed by the Grand Admiral to serve as a spokesman to address the issues of personnel to elements within the Naval Command. As such, he or she acts also as a senior advisor to the Admiralty.

The rank's duties will differ on s set of variables, particularly on the CWON. Typically, the Commander Chief Petty Officer travels regularly around the Navy, often alongside the First Lord of the Seas or Admiral of the Fleet, and in some occurs even the Grand Admiral. The CWON observes training, ship conditions, meetings and takes time to talk with sailors and their families, depending on the situation.
