The March of Caerfyrddin are border provinces to the Vale of Mynydd. As there are very few ways into the Vale of Mynydd, the Kingdom of Lordaeron previously sought to protect their borders while the Mynydd were under the control of the Gawead. Three marcher lordships were created in order to preserve the integrity of Lordaeron by specifically protecting against Mynydd raids.

The most powerful of these Marcher Lordships held the seat of Dinas Bran, making the lord of this holding the leader of the three Marcher Lords and the other two swore fealty to the holder of Dinas Bran early on.

As the House of Dyfed rose among the Mynydd, the power and need for these Marcher lordships waned and they were eventually raised to Earl status. The Earls of the Mynydd Marches soon became fast friends of the Mynydd, but their houses became extinguished after the Third War.

The three lordships of the Marches now remain unoccupied -- however, Lord Llewellan ap Gruffudd, the Arglwydd y Mynydd, lays claim to all three as part of the Vale's sovereignty. Due to this, the settlements are largely translated into the Heniath equivalents. Lord Llewellan also intends to break up the three Marcher Lordships into three distinct Tiernships.

Currently, due to his claims on the territories, Lord Llewellan has given out Dinas Bran to Lord Adeim Lighthand.

Current resistance movements remain active through the Marches, including the Whitebreaker Rangers who are active in the south, and the Knights of the Salamander and Faoladh of Dinas Narfon who are active in the north.

Naming Scheme[]

The name scheme for the settlements of the March is particularly unique to Mynydd Marcher Lordships:

Dinas refers to the capital of a Marcher Tiernas and put in front of the name of said Tiernas.

Gaer refers to a defensive fortification that has been put in place in order to counter and check an enemy in a Marcher Lordship; in particular, they refer to castles such as Gaer Bryn Bras or Gaer Carndon.
