The Book of the Damned—a religious text written by Plagueheart, a self-proclaimed prophet of the Cult of the Damned—serves as the basis for the Cult's ongoing reform efforts, increasingly called the Dark Reformation. Plagueheart claims to speak for the original Lich King, not Bolvar, and contends that the words in this tome are the words of that original Lich King.

While not widespread in its circulation and, hence, unbanned in the Alliance and Horde, this book can be found at various Scourge bases affiliated with Plagueheart's sect throughout Azeroth, in the bookshelves of studious necromancers or Cult-sworn theologians. The most prominent locale to house this book is the necropolis known as Heraxnar

The Book of the Damned[]

1 I have heard but a voice come from the depths, and it spoke and proclaimed to me that God shall return to us, His chosen people, those who practice His profanity and wash in the unholy lifeblood of humanity and violate its most sacred tenets and tenderness.

2 From the depths, this voice anointed me His chosen Prophet, to lead his chosen people and to sow among them an everlasting splendor that shall quicken them unto action. The voice from the depths proclaimed me His chosen speaker and shepherd.

3 God shall return to us—thus saith the Prophet! He shall return to us, His chosen people who practice in the most profane of arts, only if we defile the innocent; only if we murder a countless number; only if we raise the dead; and only if we violate everything that this holy world holds dear and desires to remain pure and unadulterated!

4 The long absense of our God, the Lich King, is a test of the faithful—those who abandon the cause shall suffer the eternal death, and those who stay faithful will have the curse of flesh removed from them; our God's blessings will pour upon all those who keep his commandments.
